Promoting community sustainability in the South Caucasus

On May 17, 2015, the employees of the Adjara Main Division of the Emergency Situations Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kedi municipality, in partnership with the association "Black Sea Eco Academy" and the international organization "Oxfam", carried out theoretical and practical training of volunteer rescue groups. Promotion of sustainability in the South Caucasus" was planned and implemented with the financing of the European Commission.

The aim of the training is to create groups of volunteer-rescuers to respond to emergency situations, to support them, to actively participate in the process of planning preventive measures, to correctly assess risks and to develop the skills of first response during emergency situations. This activity will help the local population to improve their organizational and technical skills in order to protect their living environment from natural disasters.

Within the framework of the event, rescue volunteers learned to move in difficult terrain conditions and find first aid for the victim. Similar events are planned to be held in 3 municipalities of Adjara - Keda, Khulo, Shuakhevi. The trainings will not have a one-time character and mutual cooperation will continue in the future.
